"Blending sustainability with contemporary style."agaati.com
AGAATI produces limited-edition, sustainable womenswear, including dresses, jumpsuits, pants, outerwear, and select scarves.
Dedicated to empowering women and creating fair-wage employment for artisans around the world, the company donates 5% of its profits to non-governmental organizations that support the same mission. The company also hand-selects artisans alongside not-for-profit partners to ensure it is reaching and empowering women in need: for its Fall and Winter 2017 collection, the company engaged women rescued from domestic violence in Nepal to weave its shawls. AGAATI strives to ensure its business is as environmentally sustainable as possible, training its artisan partners in zero-waste design and sewing techniques, using natural and dead-stock fabrics, and treating its clothing with only azo-free and natural dyes.
AGAATI founder Saloni Shrestha is a fashion designer by training, having trained at major fashion houses such as Oscar De La Renta, Diane Von Furstenberg, Zac Posen, and Naeem Khan. A native of the Himalayas, she credits her experiences living and traveling across various continents, and gaining an appreciation for diverse cultures, music, textiles, and the natural world as the basis for her nascent company’s womenswear aesthetic.
