Company Description

bambu makes modern home goods out of renewable and organic materials.

bambu’s mission: to reduce our reliance on plastic by providing people with beautiful, natural products. They were a pioneer in the use of bamboo as sustainable material in the west, and strive to use other renewable resources in all of their products, like cork, coconut, hemp, and cotton. bambu’s products are non-toxic and provide a natural, plastic-free alternative to common household staples that typically end up in landfills. They’re committed to fair wages and working conditions, and make their products out of local woodworking shops in Shanghai where they can source bamboo locally.

Founders Jeff and Rachel became enchanted by renewable, native resources like bamboo while living and traveling in Asia. Inspired, they quit their corporate jobs and began developing products in order to share these materials with the rest of the world. Their intention with bambu is to create a business that reflects their personal values: local pride, sustainability, and making products that benefit as many people as possible with the least environmental impact. The company is USDA Certified Organic, Green America Gold Certified, and CERES Certified.
