Company Description

Betty Belts designs a line of sea glass jewelry.

As a member of 1% For The Planet, Betty Belts pledges a minimum of 1% of all their sales to environmental non-profits. They contribute to organizations that help protect the world’s oceans, including Waterkeeper Alliance, Clean Ocean Action, and Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Society. Betty Belts also gives to the East Bali Poverty Project, an organization that works to reduce poverty and illiteracy in remote Balinese villages and restore the forests these villages traditionally rely upon. They maintain a close relationship with their team of Balinese silversmiths, and provide the local women with training and full-time work.

Company founder and designer Donna von Hoesslin launched Betty Belts in 2003 after learning to surf, and the business is based on her love of the ocean and her desire to stay connected with it while giving back. The sea glass at the center of their products is collected by hand by the founder, her family, and beachcombers around the world, and they use sustainable, repurposed, and recycled materials whenever possible.
