Company Description

Cafe Milagro roasts and sells premium Costa Rican coffee.

Cafe Milagro is an independently-owned and operated business, and an active member of the Costa Rican community. The company’s primary mission is to roast excellent coffee, but it’s also committed to contributing positively to the environment. As a proud member of 1% For the Planet, they donate a minimum of 1% of their profits to the Titi Conservation Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving their namesake, Costa Rica’s endangered titi monkeys. Their coffee is premium, single origin, estate grown, and micro milled — and on the website, each bag comes with detailed information about exactly where it’s coming from.

Co-founders Adrienne and Lance were both traveling university students in the ‘90s when they met at a restaurant on Costa Rica’s beach of Manuel Antonio and became fast friends. Eventually Lance had to head back to the US, but Adrienne stayed on — she discovered that it was nearly impossible to get a good cup of coffee in Costa Rica because they exported the best beans and left the rejects for local consumption. Deciding that had to change, Adrienne opened Cafe Milagro, a micro coffee roaster, in 1994. Two years later, Lance graduated and moved back to Costa Rica to become her business partner.
