Company Description

Comet Skateboards designs and produces eco-friendly, high-performance skateboards for a diverse range of skateboarding disciplines.

Founded on a commitment to environmentally sustainable manufacturing processes, the company works hand in hand with its materials supplier, e2e Materials LLC, to develop science-based innovations for its decks. As a result, each Comet skateboard is made from sustainably harvested wood, formaldehyde-free glue, and water-based inks and paint. The company composts nearly all production scraps to fertilize gardens, heat homes, and more. All Comet Skateboards are Cradle to Cradle and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified. The company also offers a line of 100% upcycled skateboards.

Jason Salfi, himself a skateboarder, founded Comet with the intention to create a more eco-friendly alternative to what he has called the “toxic sandwich” of paints, coatings, and glue that was the industry norm. All Comet products are made entirely in the U.S. In 2006, the company moved its headquarters from San Francisco, CA to Lansing, NY, to be closer to e2e, allowing for faster innovation and reduced transport waste.
