One World Play Project offers a line of durable futbol (soccer) balls to bring the transformative power of play to hundreds of millions of youth.
One World Play Project believes that play is as important to a child’s development as food, medicine, or shelter. The company donates 5% of all sales to provide play resources (including its indestructible futbols) and opportunities to children and youth in disadvantaged communities. The company also welcomes ball donations directly to partner organizations through its “Campaigns” and “Give One” programs. To date, One World Play has donated 1.5 million balls to communities worldwide through on-the-ground partners vetted for their inclusiveness, impact, and reach in a given community.
One World Futbol founder Tim Jahnigan was inspired to create an indestructible, readily accessible futbol after learning that refugee youth often play soccer using bunches of trash tied with twine. Jahnigan’s friend, world-renowned entertainer Sting, provided the initial R&D funding to create an initial model, and two years later, One World was open for business as a B Corporation. The company has gained global recognition for its work since then, attracting Chevrolet’s founding sponsorship in 2012, and reaching specific groups, including girls and refugee children, through targeted giving campaigns.
