Company Description

Safe Catch sells a variety of plain and seasoned sustainably sourced wild tuna and salmon.

All of the seafood from Safe Catch meets the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch Program’s Best Choice or Good Choice standards. They’re dedicated to protecting the purity of our oceans, lakes, and rivers, and are helping to restore and preserve marine ecosystems by donating to a number of ocean conservation groups. For each type of fish they sell they list detailed catch methods and are careful to pick the most sustainable options. Safe Catch is an approved Earth Island Institute (EII) Dolphin Safe company. They also test each one of their fish against their mercury standard, and are the only brand to do this — about one-third of the fish they catch don’t pass this test, the results of which are printed on every package.

Safe Catch prioritizes a quality product: they hand cut, slow cook, and hand pack all of their fish to maintain maximum nutrients and taste. Conventional tuna is twice cooked, which causes it to lose many vital nutrients and negatively impacts the final flavor and texture. All of their products are also 100% traceable, from captain to table. They work with Trace Register to carefully manage their supply chain, and provide that information to any customers who request it.
