Company Description

Naadam is a knitwear company producing cashmere clothing and loungewear for men and women, as well as select baby gift sets.

Naadam aims to responsibly source the highest quality cashmere in the world, and has taken steps to ensure its production process is sustainable. The company buys fibers directly from cashmere herders, thereby cutting out market middlemen. In doing so, Naadam says it is able to pay herders 50% more than traditional traders and still sell product at approximately half of competitors’ prices. The company also provides veterinary care for goats, and ensures yarn-spinning partners use clean energy and eliminate downstream effects. When products reach customers, the company uses tags to encourage them to reconsider how they clean their cashmere, with environmental and social impact in mind.

The market has responded positively to Naadam’s story: according to an August 2017 Entrepreneur profile of the company, Naadam became profitable in just its second full year of production. In addition to its online, direct-to-consumer shop, Naadam products can be found in major department stores from Barneys to Nordstrom to Selfridges under the “Studio by Naadam” label. Those stores also sell select Naadam pieces under their own labels.
