Company Description

Oatly produces a vegan, plant-based milk alternative made from gluten-free oats.

As a company, Oatly’s mission is to deliver delicious products with maximum nutritional value and minimal environmental impact. Many dairy alternatives — and dairy itself — can be an enormous strain on environmental resources; for example, a single almond requires 1.1 gallons of water to grow. A Swedish company, Oatly sources their oats for U.S. distribution from American and Canadian farms committed to sustainable and renewable farming, making and making their products in New Jersey and Quebec. All of their products are non-GMO, and their packaging is 100% recyclable and largely made from renewable resources.

Oatly’s founder, Rickard Oste, wanted to create a nutritious dairy alternative that didn’t tax the environment. His manufacturing process allows Oatly to retain the oats’ beta-glucans in their products, increasing their nutritional value. As an added precaution, their oat milk is certified glyphosate residue free by The Detox Project.
