OORR is an Australia-based company making high-performance cycling apparel and sports gear out of a new material developed from discarded coffee grounds and plastic.
OORR stands for Out Of the Rat Race, and is defined by their desire to break the mold, pursue dreams, and go beyond the average. Their products are pushing boundaries, embedding coffee grounds with yarn and recycled water bottles to create their signature fabric. The company is conscientious about their environmental impact, using a carbon-neutral shipping company, shipping items in recycled or eco-friendly packaging, and eliminating swing tags on their clothing. Five percent of revenues are given back to Velokhaya, a nonprofit that uses cycling to teach life skills to disadvantaged youth, and also support the Children’s National BMX Campaign and the Australian Wildlife Conservancy.
According to Bicycling Australia, OORR is “hugely popular among the typically fickle and fussy cycling and sportswear public.”
