Senda Athletics produces soccer and futsal balls for all ages.
The San Francisco-based company aims to make high-quality, ethically-made soccer and futsal gear, and change the way people interact with the game. To do it, the Fair Trade-certified company donates one percent of each purchase made from them to their three non-profit partners. The partners – Soccer Without Borders, Street Soccer USA, and BORP – work to improve lives through sports, using physical activity as a means to lowering school dropout rates, promoting gender equality, and keeping youth off the streets.
Senda founder Santiago Halty was inspired to create the company after seeing first-hand the ability of sport to unify and connect communities. After researching the industry, however, he felt there was room for improvement, and built Senda with a simple manifesto: “disrupt the industry by embracing Fair Trade, bringing back craftsmanship, promoting joyful playing, and improving lives along the way.” In addition to the donations made, Senda also works with its non-profit partners to innovate in the field: Senda worked with BORP to develop a special POWER SOCCER ball, which is approximately 3.5 times larger than a regular ball, and maximizes the ability of soccer players with physical disabilities to enjoy the game to their fullest potential.
